Job Description
- Sort packages in accordance to drop off points and the route taken. Employees load the vehicle with packages for delivery in the area he is assigned. These boxes and other parcels will need proper arrangement to ensure the safety of the vehicle and packages.
- Unload packages while on frequent stops at drop off points of business and residential homes. Signatures are sometimes required delivering a package, or a FedEx note or the package itself is left when the recipient is not at home. The courier often recorded the delivery time, location and recipient for tracking purposes.
- At times, handle hazardous packages and will need to exhibit proper precautions and care, whether moving it by hand or forklift, and should follow specific instructions concerning the package.
- Deliver all packages to ensure Proof of Delivery (POD) is obtained for every delivered shipments and adequate FedEx supplies are in vans (Air waybills, FedEx Envelopes, Boxes etc.); Should not miss any pick up shipments;
Skills
- Be punctual, reporting on time.
- Wearing a clean FedEx uniform and should follow the courier dress code.
- Never deploy the vehicles for personal use to pick up family members.
- Adhere to defensive driving techniques while on-road and turnoff engines once vehicle is inside the warehouse; Use seat belts and do not use mobile phones while driving Mobile should not be switched off; No smoking in the vehicle.
